At Amsource we’re passionate about connecting people talent and opportunity in technology, and supporting the growth of the digital economy in The North.

If you’ve been following us on our social media profiles you’ll be aware that we held another of our Tech//Connect events last Thursday.

Our latest event brought together both technical and non-technical senior stakeholders together from leading organisations in our region (including, ITV, EE, EMIS, Equifax, Leeds Building Society and William Hill), who are responsible for driving innovation and digital change in their organisations.

The evening  allowed attendees to take part in interesting discussions surrounding an industry hot-topic of the moment, Microservices.

We were lucky enough to welcome our special guest Andrew Rea (Chief Application Architect at the DWP) who presented an insightful, detailed presentation regarding Microservices, including comparisons between typical monothlic systems and how micro-services operate in order to offer scalable solutions. Given the feedback we have received so far the event was extremely worthwhile to our attendees, with many commenting on how they were able to take something away and apply it to their own organisations.

Here’s what our MD Andrew had to say…"I’m delighted our first Tech//Connect event was a success.  As a business recruiting in the digital / technology sector we love connecting with the tech community, and the event is a great opportunity for us to give something back to that community that will provide an opportunity for learning, development and networking.  It’s also a great opportunity for us Recruiters to be able to learn and develop our knowledge!"

It was great to have such a mixed attendee list. With some of our attendees currently working with monolithic systems but interested to learn how to move into using Microservices. Others had already heavily invested in SOA and wanted to find out if they really needed to change and others who simply wanted to find out exactly what Microservices are and whether or not they can add value to their business.

Here's what some of our attendees thought...

"It was the most interesting and relevant event I have been to in a long time, thank you."

"A very interesting session with a very knowledgeable speaker!"

"The event was ideal for me as I am just at the start of a digital transformation. Challenging the team with this best practice will be really valuable."

We are looking to deliver a series of events across a variety of topics – look out for our next Tech//Connect event which will be a special edition – ‘Women in Test’.
