With Christmas just around the corner (1 week away) we’ve been getting involved in the Christmas cheer in and out of the office over the festive period. We thought we’d share with you our favourite places to take advantage of the seasonal festivities in Leeds.

So here they are…

Leeds Christmas Market
Well this is a given but if you feel like the office is dragging you down and you need some Christmas cheer in your life ASAP, look no further than the Leeds German Christmas market. Outside the main beer tent find Christmas stalls where you can get some last minute presents, warm yourself up with a baileys hot chocolate or get your chops round a German hot dog.

If you don’t mind braving the queues, you can get involved with the main Christmas Bavarian action in the beer tent. Steins galore and even a live band blasting their best rendition of East 17’s Stay Another Day. What more could you want?

For the Amsource Christmas party this year we headed to Trinity’s Pintura. We took advantage of the fabulous Basque Christmas menu on offer. We were transported to a festive San Sebastian with beautiful Iberian meats complete with parsnip croquettes and sage aioli. The Pigs in Blanket chistorra sausages with Bayonne ham and pickle ketchup were to die for and the cheeses, bang on. Try the winter blend gin and tonic copa, which is really nice festive twist if you're a G and T lover.

Pintura is definitely a place to try if you want to try something different than your bog standard Christmas dinner menu. We loved it!

Pop down to Graze on Call Lane to get your festive fix at lunch time. We’ve been tucking into their Christmas sandwich a lot over the last few weeks. It’s like your Christmas dinner, but in a sandwich! Not good for our waistlines, but hey, it’s Christmas and we’re past caring. Turkey, cranberry sauce and stuffing served on freshly made bread, baked in their own artisan bakery.

Also if you get the chance, try their home baked gingerbread men during happy hour on hot drinks which is  10 – 11 each day!

Cielo Blanco
Have a taste of the Mexican Navidad by sampling Cielo Blanco’s Christmas cocktail menu.

Cuddle up under a heater and fairy lights with a blanket in the margarita garden and take your pick of whatever tequila based Xmas tipple takes your fancy. Our personal favourite was the Apple and Cinnamon Margarita, however the Ponche is well worth a try, a South American punch, rich with fruit and nuts and tequila (of course), a Mexican twist on the traditional mulled wine. A couple of those and you’ll be having a ‘muy feliz navidad’ (as they’d say Mexico). Arrriba.

Here at Amsource we were lucky enough to head along to the launch of Pieminister’s Christmas menu, and it did not disappoint. Christmas cocktails and Christmas pies, is that not the best way to warm you up on these chilly December nights? Our favourite pies on offer were the Dear Santa (wild venison, cured bacon, red wine and lentil) and the Mistlemoo (British beef steak, long claws ton stilton, chestnut, bacon and port pie). Yes they are as good as they sound, the perfect Christmas comfort food. Plus we enjoyed the names of the products on the menu almost as we enjoyed tasting them. Try the ‘Santas fuzzy navel cocktail’!

The Lamb & Flag

On Fridays we always head out to lunch as a team. Recently we tried the Lamb and Flag, just down the road from us on The Calls. This pub is the perfect way to spend a lunch time, its homely feels and Christmas decs alone are enough to get you into the festive spirit, not to mention the mulled wine. The lunch time sandwich menu is a great option and fantastic value for money.

Although we didn’t tuck into a Christmas dinner on our visit, they looked amazing and we did have a weeny bit of food envy so we’ll definitely be trying to squeeze in a visit back to The Lamb and Flag for one of those before the end of the festive period.

Try them out and see for yourself! We hope they fill you with Christmas cheer as they did for us.
