ROSS' FIRST MONTH AT AMSOURCE

It's four weeks into my time as a Contract Testing consultant with Amsource Technology, and I have been asked to give my own view on my initial time with the company, what I have learnt about life in Recruitment and what I hope the future holds.

From day one I felt like part of the family. The existing 7 members of the team have all been so welcoming and made what might possibly be a tougher period of adjusting to a new career a breeze. This is not to say the role is not without its challenges.

As any recruitment consultant would tell you there is a lot of hard work and effort that has to be put in in order to receive the right desired results. Anyone is capable of sending a bulk email with a bunch of CV’s to a perspective client, but where Amsource differs to your average IT Recruitment consultancy is their meticulous attention to detail and going the extra mile to ensure that we maintain a “Quality over Quantity” mentality.

It is apparent very early on that to be successful within this specialist area of recruitment that patience is a virtue, which within an extremely fast paced environment such as Software Development, may crack even the most experienced recruiter. 

I chose a career within recruitment as I believe that all my combined previous experience in my professional career would make a somewhat halfway decent consultant. I have been involved previously within both intense sales, service and marketing driven environments, where the best was demanded from me for these respective jobs. This has helped me develop much more of a personable approach. I feel strongly that the stereotype of the pushy, in your face, hard selling mentality towards any form of sales is vastly outdated and over rated. I will always prefer a situation where both myself and whoever I may be speaking with, client or candidate, feels comfortable and not forced in to something which they may come to regret. 

Amsource was my first choice when it came to choosing between recruitment consultants. It’s somewhere I feel comfortable due to my background, but also I have 100% faith that the company is how recruitment should be practiced.
