AMSOURCE: A LOOK BACK AT 2016

Friday 16th December 2016
We’re now approaching the end of 2016. Yep… we can’t quite believe it either! We thought we’d take a look back on what’s been a great year for us and give you some insight into what we’ve got instore (so far) for 2017.

Amsource Tech//Connect events…
One of the most exciting concepts we’ve embraced in 2016 would be our series of Tech//Connect events. Our first Tech//Connect event was all about digital innovation labs with Simon Sear Head of Digital at BJSS. Since then we’ve upped the frequency of our events, with a successful Micro-services event in August, holding our first ever Women in Test event in September and an extremely popular event in November around an industry hot topic, DevOps.

At Amsource we are passionate about connecting people, talent & opportunity in technology. Our Tech//Connect events series is all about just this! We want to engage with the wider tech community by organising events that will provide a platform for hearing about relevant topics within digital technology and software development.  The events all vary in topic, but the overall idea is to provide opportunities for learning, sharing ideas, discussing common challenges and working out solutions to shared problems. The events also provide networking with other people in the tech community across all levels in a variety of organisations. Our most recent events have seen attendees from a number of leading organisations including ITV, BJSS, Rancher Labs, EE, Sky Betting and Gaming to name but a few.

So far we’ve received overwhelming interest in our events and have had some great feedback from our attendees. Our events will be something we will continue to work on to make bigger and better in 2017. Read about our previous events and how you can get involved in future ones by clicking here.

Engaging with the digital scene in Leeds…

It’s most certainly an exciting time to be a resident of Leeds. The tech scene is thriving. There are currently over 23,000 digital tech economy jobs in the city. Growth in digital employment in the sector grew by over 7% between 2011 - 2014 and the average salary for tech professionals in Leeds increased by 29% between 2012- 2015.

We like to be able to support the tech community where we can.

In October 2016 we sponsored Digital Agenda’s City Impact Dinner along side KPMG. The dinner was all about championing tech for good. It brought together some of our regions digital thought leaders together for an evening of discussion around how technology can be used to over come challenges being felt in our city. (Read more here.)

It was great to be apart of something that really means something to the future of our beloved city. We're keen to expand and support other tech communities outside Leeds and across the rest of the north. So with this in mind, we will also be sponsoring digital agenda's next city impact dinner which will be held in Manchester in January 2017.

Find out more about the dinner and how you can secure your space here.

Growth…

We've welcomed some new employees who have been a great addition to our team of consultants, bringing us to a team of 9. As much as we like our current office based on The Calls, we've grown considerably since we moved in in June 2015. In line with our growth plan we are looking to employee three new consultants in the next three months, therefore we will be moving office locations in February.

Our new offices will be based in an exciting new regeneration project at one of the most historic land marks in Leeds. Along with this move within Leeds, Amsource Technology will also be taking steps in exploring expansion into other Locations across the UK. We can't wait to share more details with you about this, so stay tuned for more content coming your way in the coming weeks with more up to date details.

Targets smashed…
Each quarter our team members are each set individual targets. The team members who meet or exceed there targets are rewarded with a team trip. Our team got to work back in March on our summer incentive target, and yes you guessed it targets were smashed and those who met theirs were able to enjoy a three night stay in Ibiza in August. Read more about our trip here.

We began work on our Winter target back in October, our chosen destination this time is Amsterdam. Time and hard-work will tell who gets treated to the incentive trip this time!

Great feedback…

We mentioned earlier that we had received some really positive feedback from our Tech//Connect events, which has been fantastic. Something else which has been great to hear is the feedback from our candidates and clients this year, based on their experiences with our consultants. Check some of them out below...

"Throughout our relationship, I have been continually impressed at how Amsource delivers the highest calibre candidates in the market.  Their USP from my perspective is that they work hard to understand not only the roles but also the DNA of the organisation and of me as a hiring manager, and the end product of this effort is that they are proven to outperform the bigger players in the recruitment sector. "

Even better results…
Results wise, we have managed to exceed our results from 2015. We have increased our placement numbers by over 16% in 2016 and want to take the necessary steps to ensure we continue to exceed this percentage in 2017.

We have built strong relationships with exciting new clients from across the digital sector who we're keen to continue working with and delivering great results in the coming year!

Here's what our MD has to say about 2016 at Amsource Technology and just some of the things he's looking forward to next year...
“2016 has been another great year at Amsource. We have increased our placement numbers across both permanent and contract recruitment. Our Tech//Connect events have proven to be a real hit amongst the tech community here in Leeds, and we’re looking to continue this into 2017. We have some massive plans for 2017 including moving to new, larger office spaces, working with the tech community on a number of events alongside Tech/Connect and regional offices in the early part of the year. All the success we have achieved this year, and what we are planning for next year, can only be achieved with the great team we have here at Amsource. So from me a big thanks to them, and lets have a great 2017!”
